Origin of Jazz

This thing called "Jazz", is really America's "Classical Music". The Europeans have their "classical" music...but Americans have Jazz! Pretty cool don't you think?

This music was created by captives from Africa who were brought to America to work on plantations. It is a SOUND born from the soil of this great country. Maybe that's why it is called "roots music"? (just kidding)

It is a music that has a PULSE of struggle and freedom. A FEELING that expresses the true American spirit of improvisation and "can do" attitude...

I get sweaty and excited just thinking about the history of jazz!
